Miss Candidate

Ages 18 - 27

  • Must be no younger than 18 by September 1, 2026

  • Must be no older than 28 by September 30, 2026

  • Be a  United States citizen.

  • Be a female.

  • Must be single with no legal dependents.

  • Delegates qualifying by residence must provide proof of at least 120 consecutive days of residency within the state prior to the date of competition. You do not need to be from Richmond or Chesterfield to compete.

  • Delegates qualifying by employment must submit documentation of full-time, in-person employment (minimum of 40 hours per week) held for at least 120 consecutive days prior to competition.

  • Delegates qualifying through student status must be enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university located in the state. Full-time status is determined by the institution.

  • Meet character criteria as set forth by the Miss America Organization.

  • Be in reasonably good health to meet the job requirements.

  • Be able to meet the time commitment and job responsibilities as set forth by the local, state and national competition(s) in which you compete

Teen Candidate

Ages 14 - 18

  • Must be no younger than 14 by September 1, 2026

  • Must be no older than 18 by September 30, 2026

On-Stage
Question

Private Interview - 30% of final score
  • Miss (10 min) / Teens (8 min) participate in a private interview with the judging panel, where they will be asked questions from their resume, current events, hobbies, experience, education, and community service initiative; expressing their own beliefs in an authentic and relatable manner; sense of accomplishments / goals above and beyond the fact sheet, Remember to be you, show the judges what makes you unique and different.
     

  • Our Queens should wear professional and fashionable interview apparel.


Talent / HERStory™- 20% of final score

  • Miss/Teens perform a 90-second talent in front of the judging panel and a live audience, or deliver a 90-second HERStory™ stage presentation.
     

  • Our Queens should wear costumes or outfits appropriate to their talent performance or HERStory™ stage presentation.


Health and Fitness - 20% of final score

  • #AmericaFit - Contestants showcase their commitment to health and fitness initiatives in partnership with the Miss American/Teen organization.
     

  • Our Queens are required to wear Rebel Athletic Attire 


Evening Wear - 20% of final score

  • Dress to impress, our queens will present their sense of style, wearing an evening gown that makes them feel special.
     

  • Our Queens should wear formal attire of their choosing that appropriately reflects their style.


On-Stage Conversation - 10% of final score

  • The on-stage question is in regards to the contestant's Community Service Initiative (CSI). The contestant's response should not be longer than 30 seconds.
