Summer Kirby, a resident of Hanover County, is a 6th grade honor roll student at Chickahominy Middle School in Mechanicsville. She is the daughter of Trey and Kim Kirby. Summer is an outstanding young lady with a real joy for life, and willingness to excel in her schoolwork and volunteer time especially for the Ronald McDonald House.  She has received numerous awards for Outstanding Leadership, Good Citizenship, and a Future Teacher award.  She served as her school’s historian last year, and more importantly, created and lead a school-wide program called “Pop the Top” where the students collected aluminum tops to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities.  In addition, she has voluntarily raised money for other worthy organizations which includes the Children’s Miracle Network, the Richmond SPCA and the Autism Society of Virginia.  Summer currently takes dance lessons--pointe, ballet, tap and jazz, and also private vocal lessons for the past 2 years.  In her spare time, she reads the American Girl Doll books, watches the Food Network’s “Cake Challenge”, enjoys her friends and special summer days at the beach.  Summer plans to graduate from high school, attend the University of Virginia and become a teacher.
