Ashley's first appearance of the day started at Walkerton Tavern where she was interviewed by Patty Kruszewski with The Henrico Citizen newspaper.  This was the first time where she was 1-on-1 with a reporter.  Afterward, she was given a quick tour of the tavern by Henrico County Parks and Recreation Staff.

The next visit Ashley met with Brenda Savage (on right) and Katherine Peiper (on left) of St. Joseph’s Villa Flagler Home. She donated over 50 Christmas presents!  These presents will be distributed to the families (made up of mostly single moms) living in the cottages on campus.  Katherine Peiper also explained the services they offer, their needs, the families’ living arrangements, and the quantity of families on campus.

At her last stop of the day, Ashley met with Crystal Allen of Richmond Pediatrics and donated 60 children’s books which will be distributed between their two offices. We are so proud of Ashley for demonstrating the true meaning of Christmas!

March 3, 2010

The Miss Greater Richmond ladies enjoyed a fundraiser dinner at Nueva Mexico Restaurante.   Also pictured is Ashley's favorite waiter, Juan.  Everyone had a great time together.

March 6, 2010

Ashley participated in the annual Dr. Seuss Read Day at J.B. Watkins Elementary School in Chesterfield County.  She read to 2 second grade classes and 1 kindergarten class and everyone enjoyed the book "Tea for Ruby" written by Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson.  The children enjoyed asking Ashley insightful questions about her title and her personal life of volunteerism.  Ashley was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation signed by the principal for her dedication to Children's Literacy.

March 12, 2010 - Special Service Project - "Food from the Heart".

Ashley received donations from the employees of Henrico County Recreation and Parks and the Chesterfield County Mental Health Dept plus her 3rd grade class at Glen Allen Elementary School and her neighborhood residents, too.  Ashley will deliver the food to the Central Virginia Foodbank, the William Byrd Community House and the Coal Pit Learning Center.

March 16, 2010 - Glen Allen Elementary School

Miss Greater Richmond, Caitlin Uze talked to Ashley's 3rd grade class about "Self Esteem".  The presentation was very well received by the students and everyone had a great time.   Some students asked Ashley to act like she just won Miss America, so Ashley was quite the actress!

April 6, 2010 - Central Virginia Food Bank

Ashley and Libbie delivered 143 pounds of food to the Central VA Foodbank.  They toured the facility with Fay Lohr and Gayle Haglund to see the store area, the stock room, the freezer and the "Meals on Wheels" area.  The girls met Chief Chef, Mr. Hamlin, who coordinates all prepared meals which smelled absolutely delicious.  Ashley and Libbie weighed themselves on the big scales and learned their food donation weighed more than their weights combined.

April 6, 2010

Ashley & Libbie helped each other with food and books donated to the William Byrd Community House.  They met with Jessica Turner who guided them on a tour and explained the services provided and where donations are used.  Fresh vegetables are grown in the Community Garden for the residents.  Ashley donated 135 pounds of food to help fill the pantry, and Libby donated 60 children's books for the library and to be given to the children.  The WBCH hold an open-air farmer's market in their garden area starting in May.
