Contestant Rules
To compete in the Miss Virginia local scholarship competitions, a contestant must fulfill the following requirements:
· A contestant must be between the ages of 17-24 years of age. A high school graduate and no older than twenty-four (24) years of age on December 31, 2008 (for Miss America 2009).
· Must be resident of city/town/state for at least six months preceding the date of the local competition in which she wishes to compete, or must have fulfilled eligibility requirements by educational status or employment.
· Must have never performed or engaged in any activity or employment that could be characterized as dishonest, immoral or indecent.
· Must be of good moral character, never have been pregnant, not now pregnant, nor the adoptive parent of a child, and has not been involved in any act of moral turpitude.
· Must never have been convicted of any crime and does not have any criminal charges pending.
· Must be in good health and able to participate fully and without limitation in any program activity. Must not use or consume any illegal controlled dangerous substances or abuse the use of alcohol or other dangerous substances.
· Must participate in actual local competition within the year immediately preceding her competition in the state competition and be certified the winner of that local

In order to assure that the eligibility requirements are adequately met as defined in the contestant contract, please provide the following information;

____ C. Voter’s registration card in the contestant’s name
____ D. Registrar’s letter of validation for the contestant
____ E. Lease in the contestant’s name
____ F. Current utility bills in the contestant’s name
____ G. Federal income tax return in the contestant’s name (Financial information may be deleted)

Satisfy BOTH of the items below by providing transcript(s):
____ Confirming status as a current full-time student in Virginia as defined in the contestant’s contract.

____ Copies of pay stubs from my employer covering the last six months indicating full-time employment of at least 40 hours per week, or such other number of hours as may qualify by law as full-time employment.
____ Letter from employer verifying the last six months indicating full-time employment of at least 40 hours per week.
