Buddy has been a volunteer with the Miss Virginia Scholarship Organization in Richmond for over 20 years.  He has served as a stage/production assistant, committee and board member, then executive director of the Miss Greater Richmond Scholarship Program with his wife, Sue, for the past 4 years.  He has judged Miss America preliminaries in Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina.  Buddy is a lifelong resident of Mechanicsville and enjoys hunting, golf and his 3 dachshunds.

Sue is a former Miss Richmond and contestant in the Miss Virginia Pageant 1967. She has been a volunteer with the Miss America/Miss Virginia/Miss Greater Richmond Scholarship Organizations for over 30 years, having served on the Board of Directors as secretary and vice president prior to becoming the Miss Greater Richmond Executive Director in 2002.  Sue is a former Miss Henrico County and a finalist for the Queen of Tobaccoland in the National Tobacco Festival – 1966.    Sue has judged many Miss America preliminary competitions in Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland.  Sue has 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 3 miniature dachshunds.

Beverly was Miss Virginia in 1982 and Miss Richmond in 1981.  In addition to this honor, she won over $10,000 in scholarships by participating in Miss Virginia local competition.  She was  the talent winner in Miss New River Valley 1980, talent winner in Miss Richmond 1981, 3^rd runner-up and talent winner at Miss Virginia 1981, and Miss Portsmouth Seawall 1982 when she won Miss Virginia 1982 and the preliminary talent and swimsuit winner.  Beverly is currently the Principal of Acquinton Elementary School in King William County and member of the Gamma Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa.  She is married to Bill Young and they have a teen daughter, Brittany, who is the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen-Virginia 2006.
