Lauren Collier
Miss Greater Richmond 2006
An official preliminary to Miss Virginia and Miss America

About Lauren:

  • Born and raised in Richmond, VA

  • Has a fraternal twin sister, Lindsey

  • Graduated from J. R. Tucker High School in 2001

  • Graduated - VA Commonwealth University in 2005 with a degree in Business Administration

Accomplishments-Miss America/Miss Virginia Scholarship Program

  • Won over $18,000 in scholarship awards

  • 1st runner-up to Miss Virginia 2006

  • 4th runner-up to Miss Virginia 2005

  • Local titles represented:  Greater Richmond, Powhatan, and Central Virginia

A Performing Arts Enthusiast:

  • Completed a summer intensive with the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes

  • Completed 16 years of dance training (tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, and modern)

  • Served as captain and choreographer of high school dance team

  • Served as captain of high school show choir

 Horseback Riding:

  • Has a Trakener horse named Skippy that is used for pleasure riding and jumping 

  • Established the Richmond chapter of “Equi-Kids”, a program for Special Olympics athletes to experience the world and responsibilities of equitation

Platform:

Lauren is currently a spokesperson for the Special Olympics of Virginia and travels over the state supporting, educating, and raising funds for this cause.

She has helped facilitate events in the tournaments around Virginia and served as a “buddy” to athletes, helping to keep them organized and motivated during competition.

“My long term goal is to improve the quality of life for the athletes as well as abolishing some preconceived notions about mental retardation by educating the public on the truth of this condition.”
